Artist Feature: Lara Scolari
Lara Scolari is an emerging Contemporary Australian Visual Artist, who lives and works full time on her art making practice in Sydney’s harbourside village of Balmain.
Working with various designers in 2016, Lara has been commissioned to create space specific artwork for many harbour and beachside Sydney homes as well as for refurbishments of high end established restaurants such as Sails on Lavender Bay and the Republic Hotel on Sydney Harbour.
Lara’s latest body of work Contemporary Luxe is focused on the tonal combinations of rich and luscious colour, together with the simpler considered form of the fluid organic circle. This is influenced in part by our Australian culture – an Island Continent surrounded by water.
“Lara Scolari has applied her brand of cool chic to her latest exhibition… her work is captivating and modern. It’s an extraordinary statement of sculptural intent and bold hues – a style that never goes out of fashion.” – Gavin Atkins & Warren Sonin – Designer Boys
Exhibiting in over 75 group and solo shows, Lara has developed strong working relationships with some of Sydney’s leading interior designers. A gestural action painter, Lara’s work is produced in an Abstract Expressionist style that explores developed experimental techniques and processes. Lara builds up each work using a variety of media, creating depth through transparent layers that reveal hidden dioramas. Lara says that for her, “Art making is a form of meditation and I try to really just let go, I have learnt not to get too caught up in the outcomes and trust that when I let the process happen the magic will come!”
Prolifically producing strong considered bodies of work, Lara’s coveted artworks are beautiful in organic form, line, shape and composition.
